The New York Media put Ewing over Hakeem for many years until he was so obvious that Olajawon was the better center. When he outplayed him in `94.

Not true, Wilt best record regular season was 69-13 and 68-14, Jabbar was 66. Besides, the leader of the Lakers was Magic Johnson, when Wilt played thge Lakers the leader was Wilt.
Magic wasnt the ... ( 2 weeks ago by ExplosiveThinMan)
Magic wasnt the leader in 1980. He was just a rookie then. An exceptional rookie but he wasnt the leader. Back at that time Kareem was the Caption and the leader. Most of the offense ran through him.
Jabbar completly dominated the 1980 playoffs especially the finals. He was robbed of the MVP. Magic was the MVP of game 6 but the other 5 games were dominated by Kareem. Ask Darryl Dawkins and Caldwell Jones.

Fair enough. Id also say that Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Chamberlain were Co-leaders on those good Laker teams of the late 60s early 70s.

Baylor had been the leader of the Lakers and I dont think he and Wilt meshed that well because Elgin`s game was basically inside too.
Kareem was ... ( 2 weeks ago by ExplosiveThinMan)
Kareem was dominating game 5 of the `80 finals against Philly. He badly sprained his ankle and the doctors thought it might be broken.
Jabbar told them to tape it up and he wanted to go back in the game. He ended up winning the game for the Lakers scoring over 40 points in OT to send them back to Philly up 3-2. Nobody remembers that because it was overshadowed by Magic`s game 6 performance. Jabbar`s performance that series was
one of the greatest in NBA history.

Wilt said Baylor's knees were basically gone by the time he (The Stilt)got to L.A...AN INTERESTING thing is that the famous 33 game winning streak for the LAKERS IN THEIR 69 WIN/TITLE SEASON,'72 I BELIEVE,THAT STREAK BEGAN THE DAY AFTER BAYLOR RETIRED..ELGIN GOT A RING FOR THAT SEASON OF COURSE,EVEN THOUGH HE RETIRED DURING THE SEASON AND DIDN'T PLAY IN THE POST SEASON..
BUT Wilt didn't ... ( 2 weeks ago by jeroel)
BUT Wilt didn't shoot the ball much with the Lakers so i don't see it as an issue..with all due respect for Wilt's never to be broken 73% shooting season in his last year,'72/'73-Wilt was picking high pctge shots and scoring only 13 points a game..I am very confident that both Kareem and Olajuwon would shoot 73% under similar conditions, especially playing on a team with great shooters like West and Goodrich.....nothin personal Kansas, but Wilt just wasn't shooting much with L.A..
I think Goodrich ... ( 1 week ago by ExplosiveThinMan)
I think Goodrich led them in Scoring that year. Jerry was a great playmaker who set up the offense.

Lakers 2000: 67-15 (O'neal, champion) Chicago Bulls 1992: 67-15 (Jordan, champion) Milwaukee Bucks 1971: 66-16 (Jabbar, champion) L.A. Lakers 1987: 65-17 (Magic Johnson, champion).

I agree. Wilt was a force inside even when he wasn`t scoring alot. His presence alone. I also believe he was the MVP in the finals.

I have read all the comments and i would like to say something: "...thank's God that Kareem happened to played in Wilt's last four years. Otherwise some people may decide that Wilt do not even belong to the same floor with Kareem...". The Kareem longevity provide the basketball fans with huge base for comparisons between different ages.

for the last two years the aging Wilt was transformed in defensive mind player by his coach Bil Sharman (former Russel teammate) as you read the archive articles from 1970's, that's why he is more Bil Russel type of player during these years. In fact: season 1968-69 Wilt share the ball with Baylorand West - the three score more than 20 ppg each season 1969-70 - wilt played only 12 games 27 ppg before injured his knees. season 1971-72 - the last season averaging 20 ppg with sore knees.

I see I have make a mistake, actually: - in season 1969-70 Wilt played 9 games averaging more than 33 ppg, before injured his knee - he returns for the last 3 games averaging 12 ppg. - in season 1971- 72 and 1972-73 Wilt does not intend to score - he concentrated his efforts on the defensive end.
