he is talking about exactly binomials okay. the binomial theorem is exactly what is used. but i agree with u. u'll never need to compute 178^2 in ur life in 5 secs.

if you're a normal human being this about the fastest you'll get. For 7 to the 37 power, you won't find any trick, cause it's equal to 18562115921017574302453163671207, an there's noway to do this fast without the computer.

whoever posted this video can u help me out? i found a shortcut to solve 2digit numebers ending with a 5. here it is. the formula is (xmultiplyx +x)y square. for example 25 X 25. take 2 as always x. u know that 5square is 25 so whatever number ends with a 5 as a square will always have 25 as the last 2 digits of the answer. the y is always 5. so 25square literally means; (2x2 + 2)5square which is (2x2 +2)25 hence resulting the answer as 625

i always used the formulat (x+a)^2 where x = 100 and a=4 in this case to find out 104^2.
x^2+2ax+a^2=
x^2 +8x+16 to find out what is
10000+800+16=10816
It takes less than 10 seconds.
