Making an Astrocam from a Webcam

Video Description:
Here's one of the many ways a webcam can be converted to a camera for a telescope. This is kind of an old mod but it shows pretty well the kind of things you would need to do. There is no limit on the design on these cameras, everybody pretty much goes their own way. You can check the web (places like QCUIAG ) for all kinds of links for designs and free software.

It's a Peltier chip. When you connect power to the chip, it becomes very cold on one side and hot on the other. You use a fan and heatsink on the hot side. The cold side cools the CCD sensor. You can buy a used Canon 300d for
£150 and it will take long exposures and have low noise without cooling. It will take larger images too.
