Point taken. Many survivors today don't yell "revenge." But they're not good examples, because they had to find a way to deal with what happened, move on and rebuild a life. I wonder what view they held while in the camps.
As for the man who told his son to be a decent person (Note: he didn't urge forgiveness, nor disavow revenge), your right, it is Judaism. This too is Judaism:
"Rav Acha Karchina questioned 'Let us then say that revenge is great because it appears between two names of G-d: "A G-d of vengeance is the L-rd" [Psalms 94:1].' [Rabbi Elazar] responded, 'Indeed. In its proper place, revenge is great.'" (Berachot 33a)
Frankl was himself opposed to the concept of revenge, and his own biases are no doubt anecdotally inserted into the book, which is not a historical account, but an autobiography.
Read "Un di velt hot geshvign," by Eli Wiesel. This is the Yiddish and more frank precursor to "Night." Read "Forged in Fury," by Michael Elkins. Read the testimony from the Eichman and the Demjanko trials.
Even if you convince me - Let's assume arguendo that the Jews in the camps didn't want revenge. That would simply indicate a collective stupidity and lack of human dignity on our part.
When someone throws your family into the ovens, you seek revenge. You may disagree. Everyone on youtube may disagree. The survivors and the victims themselves may disagree (unlikely, but let's say they do). The Torah speaks for itself.
"And Shimon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took each man his sword, and came upon the city [Shchem] stealthily, and killed all the males." Breishit 34:25
"Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites" (Bamidbar 31:2) "And it shall be, when the L-rd your G-d gives you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land which the L-rd your G-d gives you for an inheritance to possess it, You shall blot out the remnants of Amalek from under heaven;
Do not forget." (Devarim 25:19)
"Sing out loud, oh nations, of His people; for He avenges the blood of His servants." (Devarim 32:43)
"The righteous shall rejoice when he sees vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked." (Tehilim 58:11) "Daughter of Babylon, who ought to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repays you as you have dealt with us. Happy shall be he who takes and dashes your little ones against t
he rock." (Tehilim 137:8-9)
Do you say Av Harachamim for the victims?
"May He, before our eyes, exact revenge for the spilled blood of His servants."
What's this got to do with the holocaust?
You lost the WWII and you are losing again. You are losers.Nazis....this video is for human beings with feelings and not for beasts like you. Youa re on the wrong place.
