Elisha Cook, who plays the drummer in this, was also in Ball of Fire as a waiter when the Krupa band played Drum Boogie. According to IMDB credits, it is Dave Coleman ghosting the drums, which do sound a lot like Buddy Rich

Hell, it does not sound like either Gene or Buddy. It really could be anyone. Triplets with accents are not that unusual for that era even though they always sound great when done right. In short, I don't know.

yeah it's buddy, no one I've ever heard before could make the rim shot's so separate sounding from the fundamental implied whole note [closed triplets]except for buddy it's def. NOT gene Gene lacked the sheer facility to pull that off. buddy 100%
