anything new is ... ( 1 month ago by mrjohnson323)
anything new is ALWAYS going to be crap to the older generation..... think about the perople in the 40's who called swing garbage and elvis in the 50's immoral and the music of the 60's commie music...it goes on and on ..it is natural...by the way i hate rap, but it has its place but we can support who we like by buying artist we like . artist don't stop making music ,people just stop buying their product and they fade away.
disco didn't die ... ( 1 month ago by mrjohnson323)
disco didn't die because of disco demolition it was just a reaction to post vietnam america..where people just wanted to forget their troubles with everything by dancing and partying... the eighties and the iranian hostage thing woke us up and reminding us we were a strong country that needs to get it together..we needed a change that was what Reagan was...most black people are noyt into the whole rap thing only the younger crowd..pretty soon just like disco they will grow out of it...
I think thats very ... ( 1 month ago by JoshGellis)
I think thats very likely right. As a 24 yr. old in this decade, I think I really like Disco compared to Rap and Hip hop.
To me Disco embodies confidence, and not nessarally excess.
i tend to agree ... ( 1 month ago by IceNsand)
i tend to agree disco demoliton night did not kill disco but it helped to end the genre's popularity sooner than it would have ended by the musics own terms i mean disco remained viable and had a level of popularity right through 1980 and and really died right at the end of of 1980 or right in the begining of 1981,if not for that dumb disco demolition night disco probaly would have remained popular right up until 1983 like it did in europe until it played itself out
I've got this ... ( 1 month ago by catlovermarty)
I've got this record of "Makin' It", too, but mine doesn't have the photo cover. I also have "Relight My Fire" by Dan Hartman and the Phyllis Hyman album you pulled out. Sad thing about her; she couldn't get a break in the music business and ended up commiting suicide. She had a FANTASTIC voice. A real rare 12" I have is a remix of Dolly Parton's "Baby I'm Burnin"/"I Wanna Fall in Love". The record is bright pink with a purple label. I think it was from her album "Heartbreaker".

Actually, the disco ... ( 1 month ago by 83survivor)
Actually, the disco sound did resurfaced from 1980-1982. There was some funk songs that were heavily orchestrated like Kool and The Gang, Cheryl Lynn, Fat Larry's Gang, Dynasty, etc. Be sure to check those out. Those still held a very high 70s vibe back then before Kastiff and the other musicians ditched the violins, bass, or whatever in 1983. That is when the music would become a really 80s sound. Hell, Michael Jackson had some violin-ladden songs from both Thriller & Triumph.

This song is one of the best from the disco era. There is music for everyone but you have to admit that the 60's 70's and 80's were rocking, the music back then had meaning, there was respect between men and women.

I like the way you dashed off for your coffee... very cool. I've never uploaded a video to youtube, but that is one of my moves as well. It always works! I was actually looking for a scene from the sitcom because I can't, for the life of me, remember what it was all about... but I remember thinking it was actually well written for what it was. I was in the 7th grade mind you.
