Yes, and in general I agree with what you say. But some distinctions need to be made. In Ireland the church was so strong that , uniquely, the taxpayer had to pick up the tag for the pedophilia, and were it not for a couple of English journalists ,the Irish would have heard as much about it as they heard about the Nazi ratlines... Secondly, the RCChurch is perfectly resilient and All-Powerful.. and what seems is never where the real seat of power lies...
