I'm voting Democrat because... -The way to fix problems cause by government intervention is more government intervention. -They aren't going to end the War on Terror or the War on Drugs anyway, so we don't lose out! -Guns are for cops and criminals. I don't need them. -I get to keep too much of my pay check. The government should take some of it off my hands... -I don't like the idea of big corporations. Big government is a good substitute. The recent election was a referendum on Bush and the GOP, and the outcome wasn't even close. The demographics say that you are going to be in the ditch for about the next 20 years or so, and that the "conservative era" is over. Actually, the demographics show that most of the country is still conservative. So hope and wish all you want, USA is still a conservative nation. Well, we know what does NOT work -- the tax-rebate-and-spend policies of the late conservative era. People under 30 voted for Obama by a 2 to 1 margin. This was the same signal of a sea change that marked the onset of the so-called "Reagan Era". The GOP ultimately proved inept at both foreign policy and domestic affairs.

plantpanther, FYI, I paid my own way through college by working two jobs while going to school, and I did not take out any government loans, so your basic premise is flawed, like so much of your thinking. I don't want or expect anything from the government except social justice and the maintenance of order. If that constitutes cowardice in your book, so be it. I just happen to believe that the people who do the work deserve to be fairly compensated, even if it means lower profits.
