Did you watch the movie Who Killed the Electric Car? If you haven't I would strongly encourage you to. GM had the EV1 but because of greed they manipulated government officials to change the laws in California and got rid of their electric cars. GM really dropped the ball. Now they are paying for their shortsightedness and stupidity. Unfortunately it is the GM work force and the rest of the public that is paying for their big mistake.

We need to remember a few things..where does the "power" to produce it physically (both components and energy)come from? Also the electricity to run them mostly are provided by oil/gas powerplants...Electrical cars are a step in the right dirction, but it is just a step, not a solution...Oil is and will be extremly important..just remember that for every single calorie of food we eat, 10 calories of oil is used! Have a nice day/night where ever you are on OUR planet....

With the solar package, this machine can ALMOST be taken off of the grid -- OIL INDEPENDENT. This the THE machine that will push us into gas-free trasportation. No. Most electric power generation in the United States does not use oil. Coal, hydro, nuclear, solar, and natural gas are typical sources for generating electricity. Power generation plants, even coal burning ones, are inherently more efficient and less polluting than vehicles due to economies of scale and the ability to more efficiently remove pollutants from a smaller number of much larger fixed locations.

Also, an electric car is far more efficient than a gasoline car, so the amount of pollution generated by producing the electricity to drive an EV a given distance is much less than the pollution from the gasoline to drive an internal combustion car the same distance. Whereas a combustion engine car can make use of around 20 percent of the energy that it consumes, a battery electric car is able to put more than 80 percent of the energy it consumes to use in moving the car down the road.

Did you know that calorie is actually kilo-calorie? That being said, which were you referring to? The traditional "calorie" that we know for our diets, or the accurate way of using it kilo-calorie? In case people are still confused, kilo-calorie was shortened over time to simply calorie.
