one of the deepest movies i've ever seen...made me contemplate what i saw just like the prestige...should've got a 3 star rating like it too but i guess the prestige was more palatable to a broader audience.

This is an extremely fantastic, magical movie. it takes you through different states of mind and keeps you wondering and not daring to look away. The setup, art and everything about the movie was beautiful. The ending scene was beyond basic imagination. One of the greatest movies i have ever seen.

im not close minded. however if i had to bet death is not in anyones best interest, except maybe mother nature, cuz you know the ground needs some kinda fertilizer, it just wont be my will to be it. i wish i could find a religion that didn't support death.

It's very inevitablity makes it something you shouldn't worry about.
Dying doesn't frighten me. Dying alone does.
I think that's why this film touched me on such a deep level, as it addressed those very things.

i dont know whether ...( 2 weeks ago by sivasrkram)
i dont know whether its right or not ....but its my perception....the story of tomas is the book written by her.....and the ecosphere is just a metaphor used by the director or writer whatever ....and at the end tommy finishes the book and the movie that one has to accept the death or pain in any sense .....its inevitable....(((this is fully my perception...any correction ...waiting for it...))))

I'm trying to remember the conversation Aronofsky and I had about this very matter - he had a slightly different take on it than mine, but your thoughts echo his quite closely if i remember correctly. I mentioned to him that I liked to think that (like 'Vanilla Sky') there's a point where the present and future stories collide in reality, and that he eventually finds a 'cure' for death and lives for many years, heading for Xibalba and his love.

i am a hard-ass when it comes to movies, and i have no patience for films that are artsy for the sake of being artsy...
...that being said, this movie literally changed how i viewed the world, and life in general. it's not for everyone, but for those who are receptive to it, it is an amazing experience.

i got about half way through this movie and then turned it off cuz it was just a little too "out there" for me...
is it worth trying to watch again??? it seems like a lot of people here really thought it was amazing
Obviously, it's not ...( 1 week ago by fanguk)
Obviously, it's not going to be to everyones taste, but I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that this film is some kind of 'art house' movie. It's not. You DO need to give it your full and undivided attention to get the most out of it, but don't expect to be spoonfed answers either - hopefully it will touch you and leave you with your own ideas by its end. After this movie, I no longer feared my mortality - it has such an effect on me. When you're ready, do give it another go! :)

thanks!
haha ya when i watched it, i just couldn't really get a grip of wat was going on and it all seemed very odd and unrealistic.
The thing that really just made me want to turn it off was seeing Hugh Jackman flying around inside of a bubble!!!
But eventually, I will try to watch it again...
I'm just wondering... is this one of those movies where everything just makes sense at the end and all of the pieces come together???
kind of like the prestige?
Well, let's just ...( 1 week ago by fanguk)
Well, let's just say that it is one of those rare movies where you kind of make your own mind up as to how it ends - ever seen 'vanilla Sky'? same kinda thing - both movies easily withstand multiple viewings. Not to mention I think this has the best f*cking soundtrack ever.
When I talked with Aronofsky he said the ship (or 'biosphere') was because they wanted to do something different that had never been seen before rather than just 'a spaceship'

It's not for everyone's taste. That's why this movie has so many haters. But who cares? There are fans of "Disaster movie" =]] =]] =]] =]] and there are "The fountain" movie
