Video Description:
Moog's first "inexpensive Minimoog." Released in 1975, it provided great functionality for less money. Since the analog boom, this wonderful synth has been overlooked, and in some cases decried, by most. Hopefully, this video will indicate why the Micromoog deserves more respect.

pretty good demo of this synth. just picked one up for only $450 but the keys are not even. as long as it works i am happy. i also still have my rogue moog and korg mono/poly but i sold the other 6 or so i had. these are getting ridiculous in price because all retro gear is super hip right now. i'm just glad i bought all mine ten years ago when they were only a couple hundred bucks (my mono/poly now sells for 3 times what i paid). i am working on building my own now.

Im sorry... But this demo makes me dislike this synth even more.. i like moogs, but they could at least have give a 3.5 ( minimoog) stage envelope. One Osc is ok but still... this sounds thin.

Think of this as a 2.5 stage envelope... don't forget there is a sustain switch. The Micromoog is capable of more unique waveforms than a Minimoog as a result of the continuously variable waveform knob, octaving knob, modulation matrix and osc control of filter. I like detuning as much as the next guy, but the Micro is timbrally very powerful.

Nice demo. The only capability this appears to have over my 1980 Prodigy (original owner here!) is a noise generator. If the Prodigy had one of those it would be the real sleeper of the vintage lower priced Moogs.

I used to love the sounds I got out of my old Micro back in the day. One thing I hated was the maintanence. Routine was opening the hood
cleaning the contact bar
wires that extended from each key. Then making sure that nothing got bent in the process.
