Wow, this is only the second time I've seen him out of character. The first time was an interview with Charlie Rose. I think his performance at the White House correspondant dinner was ground breaking and still funny every time I see it.

Yeah he most likely warns all of his guests about the fact that he is in character and it's not the "real" him. If not then I'm sure he would have gotten punched by now for one of the things he said haha.

some comedians, actors, and performers never (or rarely) allow themselves to be seen out of character and Colbert is one such comedian. Any time a camera is on him, he's super-conservative pundit Colbert. This is a kind of quality that we don't often see in modern film and theater. Many shows like this have a pre-performance meeting to prepare a guest for the event - even comedians like Leno and Letterman do this.

That was cool to see. I actually like Kerry in this video. I liked how they brought up the White House press dinner too. Stephen definitely did make everyone squirm, and I loved it.
