Well, I would argue that these serve a purpose; if decorative elements are completely expendable in your eyes, then I would instead recommend BeOS, which is one of the ugliest OS's on the planet. It's a cross between a 70's colour sheet and Windows 95 but it is brutally stable and none surpass it when it comes to media. Vista's aero makes it a pleasant to work with, so does XGL Beryl in Linux. Granted, wobbly windows may not be revolutionary but they add to the experience IMO. Your call. :D

lol, pretty harsh but still, linux can do pretty much do anything graphically wise os x can do and more. plus no spinning beachball or any of the dumb shit os x does. i should no i triple boot all 3 lol. its an ubuntu, xp pro, mac os x hybrid. not slow at all i might add.

haha yeah i know that. "!=" means not equal to in lots of languages. I was replying to someones comment where they were worrying about bittorrent being illegal or something, apparently it attached to the wrong thing.
