I had always heard ... ( 10 months ago by Stukadriver)
I had always heard that the Stukas, when found, were singled out for distruction because of their reputation. If a flyable, original Stuka was found anywhere, that would be big news. We can always hope that one will be found.

this has an almost reverential quality to it...with the flight of the valkyries ... tell me this now ... did you also get to fly the fi156 ? do one in a video with "die walpurgisnacht" playing ... ok ? .....

I am not sure what the fi156 is, please describe more for me. I was flying the JU87 in this film, yes. I would be glad to do one with the music you suggest, I just would need to find a version of it. Do you have a favorite version to suggest? Check out my other videos...Fantasy Sortie and Stuka Strike.

I was guessing a Storch but was not sure. No...have not had a chance to fly in one. I am in awe of the Storch's STOL capabilities. It would be a fun plane to fly. Especially with floats! I will look up the music you suggest. Thank you.

This is a 7/10 scale flying replica, not an original Stuka. There are no airworthy original Stukas, though that at least two mostly complete examples exist, one in Chicago and another in the UK. An airworthy original is overdue, IMO, but finding a restorable candidate will be a challenge.

With all due respect, throwing out dollar figures is one reason it's getting difficult to acquire restorable airframes. If there is an unknown Stuka hidden away, someone could believe it's worth $5M as a wreck when it's not. It's unfortunate that an individual led New Guinea officials to believe the B-17 Swamp Ghost is worth $20M when it's not in market value terms.

This gentleman was talking about a flying Stuka, I believe, which would demand more that a wreck. And, as always, the market would determine value. If I had a real, flyable Stuka around somewhere, I would put that price on it. It's a matter of opinion, obviously.

That's right. Most people know that the Langhurst Stuka is a 7/10 scale replica. Check my other videos for additional details on this aircraft as well as other comments regarding Stukas. A person can always hope that an original will be found that can be restored to flying condition. One was recently raised from underwater, perhaps that could be the first one.
Thank you. On ... ( 9 months ago by FiveCentsPlease)
Thank you. On extremely RARE occasions (two I can think of) the "airplane-in-a-barn" legend becomes reality. In this case, I'm not lending much credibility to the story in these comments. If a Stuka hidden away as a curiosity at the end of the war surfaces and it can be made airworthy with minimal work, then yes I believe it would have a high market value.
The example raised ... ( 9 months ago by FiveCentsPlease)
The example raised off the coast of Greece is very corroded, but could perhaps be used as patterns. To my knowledge, no COMPLETE factory engineering drawings exist for any Stuka model. Returning one to the air would be an expensive engineering challenge without the drawings, unless a mostly complete example emerges one day, perhaps from a lake.

Right...that's why the replicas gain a lot of approval. You cannot downplay the work and research that a builder goes through to make a replica. It's an amazing amount of effort and skill that they have to build such machines. It is far beyone my skills and I have the utmost admiration for the aircraft builders' work. All I do is maintain this one and fly it.

wind siren behind radiator, difficult to see, anyone know exactly where this stuka is kept. also as a pilot i would pay to ride back seat gunner just to experience a real dive in one
The JU87 Stuka ... ( 6 months ago by Stukadriver)
The JU87 Stuka never had wind driven sirens behind the radiator. They were mounted on the landing gear legs or spats. Sirens were removed from the JU87 later in the war for a number of practical reasons. This aircraft is based in Maine, USA.

There are 2 existing Stukas on display. Both B models I think. One at the Science museum in Chicago and one in London. The one in Chicago still has shrapnel damage visible from being brought down in Africa.
