Unfortunately most ... ( 1 year ago by L4CES)
Unfortunately most rock is wrong, but when I do stumble upon the 0.1% that isn't, I continue to listen, if it's the usual garbage I turn it off or try to leave the vicinity from which the noise is emanating.
First off there's ... ( 1 year ago by Peelick)
First off there's Rock then there's Jazz. They've both made hugh contributions to American music, saying 1% can play is just down right dumb! There's plenty of hoky motherf@*kers playing so called jazz too, But the great one's out number the hacks. Quit being a SNOB! And for your info I know plenty of ROCK guitarist that would have played school days a lot better than coryell....

Why is Larry copying Stannie Dum's bass chops near the end for?? A hot jazzy solo would have been a better choice..Too many mistakes for Larry too on this clip.

I take what I said about about Larry C..He doesn't even belong on the same stage with guys like Sanley Clarke, Al Dimeola, The Great Mahavishnu,Vai, Satriani..etc..Coryell is a spaz !!

Maybe you know what you are talking about in a way. Maybe not, there's a bit of taste involved. For me, Barefoot Boy was probably one of the greatest fusion albums ever. I just he had kept up that style more. I think he is still a great, if for no other reason than that, but I think it's more than that. Regards...

Really? Wow! I've been playing for like 50yrs. I just can't believe I missed that. So where is your video asshole? Do you even know the difference between major and minor? Have you half the passion and knowledge of Coryell? We need to see your video so you show us all how it's done.
Playing for 50 ... ( 8 months ago by wilmaman)
Playing for 50 years has no bearing on anything. Coryell is a sloppy soloist. And he's not melodic enough when needed. His overuse of chromatic runs and other botched up modes pulls him off into lost tangents. My talent is not in question here.Regardless of his extensive knowledge of music theory, He doesn't execute well on the guitar. There are hundreds of younger players that blow him away.I saw him at the Village Gate in 1976 and he was Boo'ed !He was really bad..Seriously..
Well mabey he does ... ( 8 months ago by zinnington)
Well mabey he does over due it on the modes thing. That is not what jazz is about, I grant you. I've seen him recently in Florida, and he was brilliant. Just playing straight ahead. Most of these ex fusion cats really do over do it on the scale and mode thing. Irregardles, He's still a fine player.

Wow, don't even compare Bireli to Larry. Bireli is AMAZING technically, Larry isn't really. Not compared to the big cats.

dat guitarist really SPAZZEZ UP. WHAT THE FUCK IS dat SHIT HE PLAYING?1?! He cant even play the melody properly, let alone copy that lick, and stanly calls him good. Stan must have been EMBARESSED....

A great player who sat in on a song. I don't see the problem. I don't understand what would you expect from him. If you guys remember eleventh house and twin house, you wouldn't be so brutal.

Larry makes mincemeat of DiMeola. Al plays the same old tired runs he's been doing for 30+ years. When it comes to creativity Larry has it all over Al.

HEY YOU BUNCH OF CHILDREN. THIS WAS 16 YEARS AGO. THIS IS STILL ONE OF THE COOLEST BASS RIFFS EVER!!! AS FOR LARRY, HE WAS AN INOVATOR, INSPIRING SO MANY PLAYERS. THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE AS MANY 'SO CALLED' GREAT GUITAR PLAYERS AS THERE ARE IF IT WEREN'T FOR THIS GUY. HE SET THE STANDARD TO BE MEASURED BY, MUCH LIKE JIMI DID IN ANOTHER FORMAT. GET OFF HIS CASE JERKS. THEY WERE JAMMING AND AS STANLEY STATED, THIS WAS THE 1st TIME THAT THEY PLAYED IT. ENJOY THE MUSIC, QUIT COMPARING GUITAR PLAYERS
