There are so many things I am grateful for in this crazy, hectic life of mine......the health of my kids (now in their mid twenties), the health and wisdom of my parents (now in their mid seventies), the love of an awesome woman who keeps me grounded and the undeniable fact that I was fortunate enough to grow up listening to and learning from such extremely talented people like John Denver. I'd give 10 years of my life to hear him perform just one more time. God Bless you John.

His music was so unique and enchanting. I'm only 19 years old..I just exposed myself to John's music when I was a freshmen in high school, I bought his Definitive Greatest Hits when I was w/ my mom @ the Sam's Club one sunny day I never will forget that day. John is like my best friend, I get lost in his music and it takes me to a far away place in my mind...he will always be my favorite, simply magical :D

Props to you! You pretty much covered it in your comment, but you're not alone. One poster (age 42) commented on "Sunshine" that his 12 year old daughter has that song in her iPod. Other young people have exclaimed that his music touches them in way that today's music absolutely does not or cannot. And they're right. His music transcends human age, the much older and much younger listen to it equally, and that's exactly how he intended it. I too get lost in his music, and it's very meditative.

Thank you! His music transcends genre and really stands the test of time. Like I said I bought that CD just because it had "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and I didn't know any of the other songs. I had no idea what I held in my hands!! haha

You're welcome! I assume the CD you're referring to is the Greatest Hits, and if so you're going to find it's addictive. People have reported that it stays in their CD players for a long time. I still listen to it to this day, and started owning it on vinyl. DO check out the other JD videos, and immerse yourself in his musical magic. You'll find out what us "older" folks have known for all these years...just how incredible that guy truly was, and truly still is.

Haha yeah it was the Definitive Greatest Hits..which was followed by 16 Biggest Hits..which was followed by the 1st greatest hits where on the cover he's like holding his hat and laughing lol. Yeah I love him! What I really love is like on a rainy saturday afternoon w/ nothing to do and nowhere I have to be just lay on my bed in the dark and listen to JD and as Kristofferson said "hear the whisper of the raindrops..." haha I love it.

hi,rebel,so nice to see a young Denver fan. If you want a truly terrific 'Greatest Hits' package,I would recommend buying 'Jd's Greatest Hits' from 1973 (The one with John plonking the hat on his head on the cover)and Greatest Hits Volume 2 from 1977.The 1st is a classic album,that sold over 10 million copies in an era when LPS didn't do that
stayed on the US charts for FOUR years.the 2nd was a Platinum LP and is classic 70s era Denver.These are 'official' releases and not just repackages.

JD wrote some notes re this song for the JD Anthology sheet Music book.I seem to recall that John said he realized that in the wake of the feminist movement,there were many women like Annie who felt a sense of disillusionment
longing in their lives.Annie has spoken many times of how lost John's fame made her feel,as if she had no identity.Eventually Annie found herself by getting her degree and by refusing 2 be 'Mrs John Denver.',so the song came out of that.

John and Olivia where to artists, that receive so much airplay, it was ad nauseum, I couldn't punch the radio button fast enough to change the station. When most cars on the road has radios with buttons you actually had to push. Only in the last few years, I could again enjoy their recordings
