The books are harmless - I love them.
I am a Christian.
However, Christians should not and most do not practise magic or wicca.
Have you heard of something called the Bible?
Yeah, it kinda says not to.
But HP books are good and I don't know anyone who actually practises magic after reading it.

Christian here too The Bible says not to practice magic and more things. There are actually some sites which describe the Harry Potter books as being intriguing and claim the fact that they make youngsters actually believe in magic. I don't think that a 9 years old boy jumped on his mother's broom and expected to fly. Even they can sense the difference between reality and fantasy. So I find this religious claims as being useless-nobody's going to use Sectusempra on priests or something like that

Exactly. It's people's own problems if they can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. I think that the bible is a fantasy book and it bothers me that so many people think it's actually real, but who am I to tell them what to believe? Maybe people who believe in the bible are more suceptible to believing that other fantasy books might be real, too. I WANT Harry Potter to be real, but no matter how much I want that (or how much some people want the bible to be real), it's not.

It bothers me even more how prejudiced some extremist religious people are that they will take the fame of a HP and use it as a forum for them to voice their hatrid. Spreading your hatrid towards homosexuals and other religions IS THE EVIL HERE. Harry Potter promotes TOLORANCE, PEACE, LOVE AND CONSCIENCE! You could learn some good morals from these books!!!

the bible is based heavily off of paganism (yes magic, and sorceries) while they dont turn people into cats and levitate things, its still based off the same. its just mythology, anyone who gets their panties up in abunch because kids are into "magic" should never be aloud to have children. kids need to feed their imaginations. not only that they are READING for god's sake. Its better than a mindless tv show about a gay sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea.

I'm a Christian and I ABSOLUTELY love the harry potter books. It's not all Christians that are crazy. I wonder how all those ppl against harry potter explain to their kids how Santa gets all the presents to all the kids in the world in one night without using the word "magic" in their explanation!

Harry Potter has NOTHING to do with religion. I'm an Christian and I'm not gonna go buy a hat and owl. You could say the same thing about Lord of the Rings couldnt you? Or even Pirartes of the Carribean. Harry Potter is just a series to get more kids reading. Calm down. Dont tell us Christians that the Bible isnt true! Okay people just shut the hell up. Harry Potter is NOT evil. If it was so damn evil and would really make you do the bad things people say, then im sure J.K Rowling wouldn't have all the fans she does now. Trust me, she's been writing these for years, if they WERE so evil, don't you think people OTHER than Christians would be talking out against it? Most people who say it's evil are just getting it from their church, or are Christians who cant accept a book about magic is popular.

2. well they can get over it because not everyone is christian so all their doing is pissing people off. they have no PROOF its evil. until you get proof, HARD VALID PROOF that harry potter makes people do evil things, they have no case, and therefore need to shut it. they haven't even read the book most likely from what they say about it. their just crazy.

ok, i just want to throw this out there: I'm a Christian, and i LOVEEEE harry potter!! i dont think i know any people who actually think it's evil. people seem to think all Christians take things so literally. people who think a novel is evil obviously have trouble telling the difference b/w fantasy and reality.
anyways, i think i would cry if JK signed my book!!!! i can't believe the series is over though...i'm kinda sad :[
