The violence spilling out of Brazil's slums or 'favelas' has made the country's two major cities more dangerous than most war zones. Children in Rio de Janeiro are eight times more likely to die violently than those in the West Bank. "They live on a kill or be killed basis," states anthropologist Luke Dowdney, who has spent five years studying the favelas. "If they don't kill someone when they're told to, they will be killed."

Japan cutting ALL relations with the USA? hhmmm, I don't believe that, but if it is true, then Japan will turn into the next Korea. USA needs Japan and Japan needs USA, cutting all relationships seems too harsh and highly unrealistic. Erisative, are you sure you know what you are talking about? or are you just a USA hater? sounds to me like the latter is what you are.

Why call Americans FAT? there are fat people all over the world, the last I recall SUMO wrestlers were from Japan, and they are the fattest people in the world - why get obese and unhealthy just to push each other off a circle, never understood. Not taking sides, but calling all Americans fat is an insult of a high degree and a lack of education to post an intelligent post. There are arrogant people all over the world, and I wouldn't say Americans are the most arrogant, nor would I say that Brazilians are the most dangerous in the world, like Fukluku, right? It appears to me that Fukluku is getting under your skin, and you getting back to him by calling him an American Fat boy, is not very nice on you part, you just have to learn which posts to ignore and which to appreciate. I go to Univisrity in USA, and I think Americans are nice people. They are kind, generous, educated and polite. Mind you, the "American People" are made up of many cultures and races, America truly is a melting pot, and I've never seen a nation's thread made up of so many people. America is a nation of opportunity, I'm living proof. What does journalism about Favelas have to do with Fat Americans, Japanese, eating sisters/cheeseburgers/poo-poo platters, etc, etc, I can't believe the insults taking place on this forum. I thought it was about commenting on the Favela violence and reform. I don't remember seeing any americans/japanese eating cheeseburgers on video, so why has this become the subject?
