ël Shrieve on Soul Sacrifice Santana Woodstock... when he was 19 years old... above all he looks like he's enjoying himself. Technique comes a poor second to someone who plays from feeling.

Two different styles. But Buddy Rich is razor sharp and held back eventhough he slipped in a couple amazing drumming excerpts. He obviossly had respect for Krupa....otherwise he could of kept going for another 15 minutes with power and finese..

Both these drummers were great and more than great. Bud when I must vote for that "one", i think i choose Gene Krupa. For me, as drummer, it takes very long time, until I understand his style, but now I can say Gene Crupa's drummnig included more and more musicality than Rich's... But you can't think I don't like Buddy Rich... Just look at him. It's show, it is storm. Especially for drummers must be his drumming more interesting, but I think today drumers can learn more from Krupa than Rich...

Dayum! Amazing. I may have to reconsider my opionion of Gene Krupa as the best drummer of all time. On this cut though, I do think that he swings better. As for Ringo, I'm not a expert on drumming but Lennon once said he had the best back-beat in the business.

A-Freakin-Mazing. I worship these men. I don't think anyone will ever be able to surpass their talent. I say this because drummers seem to be getting worse as time goes on. Just my opinion though. Kiss my ars if you don't agree.

krupa was like in his 50s and buddy was a lil bit younger and gene wasent as healthy at the time because took drugs 4 a while and that screwed him over a little bit and thats why he wasent as fast

Buddy Rich was Gene Kelly to Krupa's Fred Astaire. Krupa had grace and technical sophistication, whereas Buddy Rich was a "blue collar" drummer. Which is not to deingrate Rich's talents in any way - it's just a difference in style.
Gene Krupa's drumming, as well as being brilliant, was very refined; while Buddy Rich, though equally brilliant and creative as Krupa, was ferocious.
