id like to take part in this convo. im a 16 year old prog rock lover. i love genesis, pink floyd, and king crimsom. im probably close to your insite of tripping in my basement, listening to genesis, except i sit in my room and i dont trip out. one reason i dont trip out while listening to genesis or floyd is because i think their music is too precious enough to trip to their music. sure its fun, ive done it in the past, but not anymore (drugs, i mean). i just think the music today sucks. =]

By tripping, I didn't necessarily mean that you had to be on drugs. Good for you if you can trip on Genesis without the use of drugs. By the way, there's still some good music around today, you just have to look for it harder. Don't shut yourself up in the past.

well when i hear tripping, i think acid or something. i just enjoy the whole atmosphere genesis brings in their music and i love just laying down and listening to them. and i understand that there could possibly be some good music around, i just feel more comfortable with myself to listen to dark side of the moon or trespass. the music today just doesnt quite appeal to me =\ but people have told me that ive been looking in the wrong places for good music, and i totally believe it.

I agree! Kids are too busy playing video games instead. Thank god for "Rockband" and "guitar hero"...those games got my nephews into rockin' out. Now they crank the radio when classic songs come on. Sure beats that hip hop crap!
