If you are on a budget I would suggest you add at least one cymbal. With just one I would suggest a crash/ride hybrid.

great vids. I have learned alot just watching. just wanted to ask how long did it take you to get your double roll to that speed when you first started. also are there any exercises I can do that may help besides just hitting the drum to increase my speed? thanks for the your help and I will keep watching

I started learning to play when I was five so I really don't remember how long it took. Practice at least 10-20 minutes on rolls 5 or more times a week. I think it helps to do it every day so you don't backslide. Give it 6 months and I'd guess you'll have a smooth fast roll. I used to play with big fat sticks (3S?) and I used to practice hitting single stroke rolls into a pillow to try and improve my speed. Not sure how much it helped. You'll probably do fine just practicing on the drum.

Do you think that 21 years old is too old to learn how to play drums exceptionally well, honestly... I mean my family has a very musical and creative background and i'm kind of the blacksheep...

No. Not at all. I think it just takes lots of practice to play exceptionally well. Starting late just means putting in more practice per day. If you can practice 2 hours a day 5 days a week, I would think you would play very well in three or four years. (In "This is your Brain on Music" it is posited that it takes 10,000 hours of study/practice to become an EXPERT.) So depending on your goal, adjust the amount of time you practice per day.
