Hey man,
I come in peace & respect but come on ? P.E. defined hip-hop, as one of the first oufits that tried to really put forth a message with their music. I'm no intellectual but you may want to read Jeff Chang's book: "Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The History of the Hip-Hop Generation". Did any of the cats you name mark the evolution of hip-hop (And I'm not talking the thug/bling stuff) as much as Chuck D. and his crew did ?

true true i definetley know where you are coming from...they are originators. im just saying that i dont think theyre music is as good as those other artists. they were def influential, but so was NWA. im not saying they arent good or dont have a purpose cuz they are both good and have a purpose. its just my opinion and thats it. i come in peace also lol

Point well taken my man. No problem at all. I see where you're coming from. I guess P.E.'s music just doesn't hit you in the gut like it does for some of us. Personally, I'm a 37-yr. old fart so what do I know ? :-) However, when I got my first album P.E. at age 16, it blew my mind. 21 years later, Chuck's voice and the Terminator's blasts on the turntables still rock my brain.
But I do see your point. And Wu Tang, with the RZA's genius are definitely top class ! Peace !

I am a White Man, but this song still moves me. I can't but help but feel for my Black Brothers when I listen to Chuck. I am now 34, and this shit is still relevant 20 years later.

I can't elaborate, ,lack of space.
1) Black man went thru terrible treatment when came to America.
2) How many of the Black guys that r successful nowadays , politics, music, cinema, can thank the ones that died for their success ??
3)History is. You cannot re-write it.

yesterday dont mean shit...because tomarrow is a day we have to face. There is no such thing as "history"..everything is happening right now...and whites have no more of an upper hand than blacks do. the dividing lines of race and sex are slowly dissolving

well i live in canada but its even worse in the U.S butit is illegal for them to do that buti think that the police force is slightly corrupt so some people get searched etc.for nothing, like myself, i have dreads and i wasat the bike park and a cop thought it was a good idea to search me for drugs, and even though i do smoke ganja for religious reasons but , they shouldnt be able to do that , so of course i gave him some trouble but he said if iopposed what he was doing i could get charged

Who said anything ... ( 1 day ago by MuzakConcrete)
Who said anything about history? I'm talking about you and your bubble. Only recently Hurricane Katrina and the media coverage surrounding it was a show of America oppressing black people. Women are increasingly objectified and at a younger age too. Keep your head up all you like but don't pretend that dividing lines are dissolving in the real world, things won't get better on their own.
