High Voltage Cable Inspection

Uploaded by: simonjz05
Video Description:
High Voltage Cable Inspection on 0.5MV lines. Thanks for all the comments! This is what I used to do a couple of years back, and that also it is shot so nicely, that I thought it befitting to show all.
Clip is from IMAX documentary called "Straight Up", and grabbed from HD source.

Hey buc506,
My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the guys from Agrotors during this movie shoot at their main office and on site. Can you please say 'HI' to Spyder, Snowman, Mark and the other guys for us? And please tell your father-in-law that his permed hair story had me on the f
loor laughing, but I truly hope to not hear another close call like that one. Ok? Thanks Marisa

I don't think there's a need. If it's AC 3phase, those 2 wires he's on is the same Phase. If it's DC, it's the same polarity. Rather than running one large conductor, you can run smaller conductor in parallel. Where you see the other guy in the vid going the other way, you wouldn't want to cross that set with the other, but there's alot of free air space between the two to prevent the two sets touching or any arcing

I assume the only reason they commonly use Hughes 500s as opposed to jetrangers, for this kind of work is the fully articulated head much safer for moving in and out of the helicopter.
