"Ezra" as far as I know is a judge from Biblical time appointed by God. He was a priest and God gave him the power to judge mortals. I'm not sure if the band is better than him because they can judge like it's nobody's buisness or if they just sing better than him. I've never heard Ezra sing so, who knows?

This band was originally called "Ezra," but there was another band by that name who had been using it first. The original Ezra threatened to sue (or something along those lines) so this band cleverly changed their name to "Better than Ezra!"

For as many times as I've heard this song, this is the first time I've ever seen the music video. My mom refused to get MTV or any channel that played music videos on cable when I was a teenager -- she claimed that modern rock had evil and lewd influences, and I needn't be subjected to that. So I went and did more wholesome activities -- like weed and booze. That'll show MTV.
