| I think the GTO actually gets better mileage then the STI it takes fuel to make power so whither you go large displacement or small displacement and high boost mileage is going to be lackluster. Also the Chevy V8 is very reliable and easy to work on which is a plus. |

| doubt the GTO gets better gas mileage, first off its over 300lbs heavier and doesnt have cylinder cut off. This means there is no variable displacement in the LS2 or LS1. The 4 cyl. boxer in the STI uses a turbo which in essence gives it a variable displacement engine by varying how much air is mixed with fuel. less air, less fuel, more air, more fuel and more power. neither car runs full throttle all the time, so the STI runs lower boost and less fuel when it doesnt need it for massive power |

| these cars are made to go fast and at the same price range the subaru beats alot of other cars in this price range plain and simple it performs better, and people who say what about gas milage....wtf buy a friggin prius, people dont buy the sti or the gto to save money on gas, they are what they are and sti is better. |

| I wouldn't call it variable displacement. Variable displacement is like a 5.0L V8 only running 4 cylinders in town. So it can be a 2.5L or a 5.0L. Don't forget that you have turbo lag as well. But still, you have the same basic opinion as me. |

| well, i was just comparing it to variable displacement because its a way of varying the amount of air that the engine can combust with fuel. Its really, variable pressure, but they both accomplish the same thing 2 different ways. if I run 14lb of boost then i have basically doubled the amount of air entering the engine. And based on throttle position and RPM, i can change the amount of boost, thus changing the amount of air being burned with fuel. this si what variable displacement attempts. |

| I've heard the GTO is actually more of a luxury coupe and i don't doubt it either. the interior is really comfy in those things and quiet as a church mouse. I've ridden in one before. STi's are pretty sick cars too, but I'd take the GTO just for the V8 sound and indestructible persona. |

| What i honestly don't understand is why the GTO has only 400hp. It has a 6.0L V8, when i hear that i expect 550hp. But if i had to choose between the two it would be the GTO, it looks worlds better than the ass ugly WRX and i love the sound |
