Drink of the Death Squads - David Rovics
Uploaded by: davidrovics
Video Description:
True story first told to me by Katie Knight from the Colombia Support Network in Montana. Something like half of the union organizers that are killed in the world each year are Colombian. Colombia is also the biggest recipient of military aid in the hemisphere. This, of course, is a coincidence.
----------- Coca-Cola came to Colombia Seeking lower wages They got just what they came for But as we turn the pages We find the workers didn't like the sound Of their children's hungry cries So they said we'll join the union And they began to organize So Coke called up a terrorist group Called
the AUC They said "we've got some problems At the factory" So these thugs went to the plant Killed two union men Told the rest, "you leave the union Or we'll be back again" Now Coke did not complain About this dirty deed Why give workers higher wages When Coke is all they really need They phoned th
e AUC Said "thanks, without you we'd go broke And to show our appreciation Here's one hundred cases of Coke" (Chorus) The baby drinks it in his bottle When the water ain't no good The dog drinks it But he don't know if he should Some folks say It's the nectar of the Gods But Coke is the drink of th
e Death Squads Well the workers wouldn't take This situation lying down Some went up to Georgia Said "look what's happened to our town You American workers got downsized And as for us we just get shot And those of us who survive Our teeth begin to rot" (Chorus) Well now that's the situation What
are you gonna do 'Cause death squads run Colombia And they're paid by me and you We can let Coke run the world And see what future that will bring Or we can drink juice and smash the state Now that's the real thing (Chorus) Created March, 2002 Copyright David Rovics 2002, all rights reserved

Is that how you justify FARC's indiscriminate car bombings, growing drugs and use of child soldiers?
The Lancet- 655,000
Opinion Business Research- 1,220,000
Those are estimated most probable figures, of course. Might be lower. But then again might be higher as well.
Do you want to play the fucking numbers GAME? Even if the numbers were much lower that would in no way justify these illegal, evil
murderous wars in Afghanistan
Iraq.
Or the long history that precedes the actual invasions.
When have they used car bombs?
As for drugs, they TAX cocaine production. They don't actually produce it themselves. Other organisations involved in the drugs trade in Columbia include the government, the army, para-military groups like AUC
of course the good old CIA, no strangers to drug dealing
terrorism, not to mention orchestrating coups
setting up proxy armies.
"Even if the numbers were much lower that would in no way justify these illegal, evil
murderous wars in Afghanistan
Iraq."
What is illegal about the War in Afganistan? So far this is the easiest invasion of Afganistan in the nation's history-THEY WANT US THERE!
Feb 7 2003 El Nogal nightclub bombing which killed 36 people and injured 200.
"As for drugs, they TAX cocaine production. They don't actually produce it themselves." They actually fight troops and police that come to burn coca crops. "of course the good old CIA, no strangers to drug dealing
terrorism"
And I would love to see you prove that.
OBR studies are the most reliable estimates available. With any disaster on the scale of Iraq it is difficult to know the true numbers.
Even if the numbers are much lower that would hardly justify the deaths that have been caused by these wars.
this is without even mentioning the refugees, the destitute, the wounded, maimed
disabled, the people contaminated with depleted uranium, or those who have been imprisoned, raped, tortured, or have lost family
friends.
The Afghans "want" the occupation there? Not according to RAWA, the main democracy
woman's/human rights organisation in the country. Or Malalai Joya. Or the Afghans interviewed by journalists
writers such as Robert Fisk or Sonali Kolhatkar
James Ingalls.
The US/NATO occupation is no more popular than the Soviet 1 was.
proxy wars is well established
documented.
The FARC may well be guilty of terrorism (I don't know)
they certainly profit from drugs, but no more so than the Columbian state.
Caspian Sea oil and gas, dare the CBC to say that.
Mexico, the water can be so undrinkable, newborns are forced to drink Coke. =o
