No, Even the band admit Pop nearly cost them their career. Their best songs are the powerful ones. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is simply the greatest song ever written. This was an experiment that probably wasnt needed.

I couldn't disagree more. U2 were at their peak when they experimented and weren't afraid to make the music they wanted to make. Pop is an amazing album and you need only listen to the radio today to hear how many bands have been influenced by it.

I have read articles where it says The Edge almost walked out of the recording sessions and Larry was totally against the whole concept of the album. He even protested on the video for Discotheque, where he didnt join in as much on the dance sequence at the end. I found two songs on that album that I liked and was disappointed with what I heard.
