damned near every group that appeared on t.v. from the 1950s through the 1980s lip synched. i'm amzaed at how folks 'point' this out like its a magic trick.
yes, the studios couldnt handle it; the show and audience often wanted 'the song'; in order to get horns, you'd have to pay a lot of folks a lot of money; and yes, in concert these guys played their instruments, but on the album they had 'sessions artists'. even the beatles used sessions artists.

The bassist is Charles "Chuck" Colbert - who started his career with an R&B group called the Daylighters. He along with Al Ciner formed Rufus after the "Breed" disbanded.

Does anyone remember the toothpaste that used this song in it's commercial? I think it was Pepsodent Tooth Paste. The words were changed a little: White teeth, bright teeth, really out of sight teeth, when you use Pepsodent your all white. It might have been a different brand but this song was used in a tooth paste commercial.
