Why would artists sell DVDs from any concert? Sure it's all nice and fun seeing the crowd go crazy, but it's not like you're there. I guess especially the people who do have been there would buy the DVD of the 3D concert or any concert as a remembrance of an awesome time in high quality format.
Otherwise, you could just put that selling DVDs means more MONEH! U2 has become like a well selling brand. Just throw out any commercial product with U2 on it and you can be assured people would buy it

this is only going to be shown in movie houses, no dvd. what's wrong getting paid for the creative work you do? these ideas take considerale thought, work & time; just like they put into their music. people buy their music and dvd's because u2 f*cking rock! and yeah, it IS kinda like being there! i got lost in it and almost forgot it was a movie, not an actual concert!

WinterBlueArt: yes, fans buy their work and merchandise because we LOVE them!! Brands usually sell well for a reason. U2 are excellent and we (fans) support U2 no matter what. They look and sound amazing on D.V.D, and are one of the best live acts EVER, so what's wrong with them selling concert D.V.D's? Seems a good idea! ALL bands do that, but you think U2 shouldn't? & who doesn't love MONEH! The music industry is a business, bit obvious they'll be SELLING their work. Like every other business.

Ray1bradbury: Ahh well I never said there's something wrong with selling DVDs from concerts. I was merely trying to make a point to someone else in a thread about concerts on DVD.
On a more personal, obviously U2 is a fantastic band and their live performances kick ass! Alhough, the U2 3D concert is a questionable live performance! =p

WinterBlueArt: O.K, it was just your 'Why would artists sell DVDs from any concert?' question I didn't get. There are so many reasons for U2 to sell D.V.D's of their concert performances! But O.K. Why is U23D a questionable live performance? I didn't get to see it I'm afraid, wouldn't know. :-(

they said they did this partly for the fans who haven't been able to go to a real life concert, to get as close to an experience where they have the best seat in the house! also they wanted to do this idea now, and be the first to offer this kind of 3d concert. in u2 by u2 the edge said he was somewhat subdued in some of the performances because his family was having a health issue.

Just saw this 3D movie last night in Wash DC -Natural History Museum.
Very convincing 3D effects...at times I couldn't tell if the waving hands in front of me were on the screen or really in the theatre in the row in front of me. The overhead 3D shots of the drummer were awesome, and when the w/ the 3D close up of Bono when he holds out his hand you swear you could grab hold of it...
