Thanks for the ... ( 6 months ago by kreskinkun)
Thanks for the video. Olbermann as usual speaks with that ideal mix of realism, intelligence and conviction. I'm glad someone in our circus of a media does this.
I wish the Bush administration would stop churning out so much controversial, self-serving, liberty-maiming garbage. It's exhausting my mind just to keep up on it all, let alone the ramifications they will hold.
How come the masses ... ( 6 months ago by wmryan78)
How come the masses aren't interested in what privacy laws were broken by the telecomms? How come Bush isn't questioned more on why he insists on granting immunity for these crimes? Why is he so mad at Congress for not doing exactly as he wishes them to? There should be more attention given to this; unfortunately we're fed Britney, midwestern snow storms (which happen 50 times or more every winter), and the most mundane campaign "news." Why?

I ADORE Keith Olbermann. And I'm a Republican. Keith tells us like it is. Not much of that anymore. I haven't checked but I'm fairly sure Rupert Murdoch doesn't own msnbc. Because Keith tells us like it is. Sad what our country has degenerated into.

The constitution is what matters here. Retroactive immunity is unconstitutional, plain and simple. The Bush administration needs to pull their heads out of their asses, and represent the American people, and not corporate interests, for once.

ever seen the movie enemy of the state? its about telecommunications and how our govt wants to spy on the citizens of the united states. the movie was made pre-9/11, and it was still a semi-serious issue.
Think about it: ... ( 6 months ago by bashia)
Think about it: When the government can spy on us, they can steal our inventions, our ideas and sell them to corporations. They can prevent us from organizing effectual protests or coalitions against anything we don't like. They can gather negative information on us to blackmail us or destroy us when we oppose anything they want to do. Information is power and when the government has carte blanc to gather any information on us they have more power than the founders ever intended.

Spying? On me? ... ( 4 months ago by 3Philosophy)
Spying? On me? What for? I have nothing to hide. Go ahead. FISA is about updating an archaic law passed during the post-Watergate democratic freak-out. The ability to intercept transmissions intended to create harm to a country is a country's first obligation to itself.they can listen to my phone calls all they want, if they can find someone able to stay awake through all my dull conversations...who's Keith talking to? Maybe ...well, never mind
