It's quite amazing actually, how Gordons voice can still maintain such a high standard, at his age and everything.

To use a Will Rogers quote, Lightfoot never sang a song I didn't like.

I recall this song when I was flying to Vancouver International Airport to pick up 10,000 hits of LSD -- As 'High', drunk, and 'LOST' as can be! Should have been with me instead of in Newark 'cause I had a GREAT time!!! -- And I'm sorry you didn't. Wish I could have been there to help you.
SOOO TRUE!!!! ... ( 1 month ago by Zen0Z)
SOOO TRUE!!!! Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. (Born Nov. 17, 1938) would be really disappointed to know he was missing his 69th year of life! And his next 'gig'!!! (Don't ya just LOVE that number 69?!? *LOL*)

I've seen Lightfoot twice, I think I am good on that basis seeing as I am only 18. I love his songs, they're always so soothing. I'd have to say he is one of my biggest influences in music.

This is the best video version I have seen of Gordon Lightfoot. Thanks for posting it with your collection. Seems the better quality recordings of his work are pretty much limited to audio, due to being released well before the digital age. Gordon Lightfoot's songs, and performances of them, are simply incredible! For those not familiar with his stuff, purchase a double CD of his hits and you will find many new favorites for keeping.

On my MP3 player ... ( 2 weeks ago by fatcatbuzz)
On my MP3 player full of strange, trippy, 90s alternative, British shoegazing, rock, heavy metal, industrial, hip hop, late 60s psychedelic, jazz and blues I always seem to find room for Gordon Lightfoot. Maybe it's because I'm from Minnesota or the hard times his music got me out of living on the east coast, but his music has follow me to NM and CO and now down here to Las Vegas.

We have seen him ... ( 1 week ago by lgcrooks)
We have seen him recently as well, and yes, he voice is a little strained. But, some of the greatest singer-songwriters of this era couldn't "sing" very well. Let's take Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Steve Earle, Richard Thompson, Leonard Cohen as examples. It's what they say and how they say it that connects with us!

What is this from and what year? This is great. Where are songwriters today? Love the Eva Cassidy version too.
